A Family Adventure

Dinner - Applewood Farmhouse Restaurants & Applebarn Cider Mill

Step back in time and enjoy the Southern hospitality and wonderful food of Applewood Farmhouse where the motto is “Life is short, eat fritters first.” Apple fritters, of course, made by hand along with their famous Apple Butter and Applewood Juleps.  The Applewood Cider Mill nextdoor features an array of goodies you won’t want to miss.

Lunch - Old Mill Pottery House Café and Grille

A truly delightful dining experience. If homemade artisan breads, scratch made soups and salads made to order are what you’re looking for, this is your place. Southern favorites such as fried catfish, seafood and steaks are sure to please. The many unique shops at the Old Mill make this the shopper’s ultimate place to dine.

Dinner - No Way Jose’s Cantina

Come and enjoy the fiesta! Just when you thought No Ways’ authentic Mexican food couldn’t get any better, they add  freshly made sauces and salsa. Fresh made tamales and slow marinated chicken and steak make No Way Jose’s the place for Mexican food.

Shops at Carousel Gardens

Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop

Representative of almost a century of local art and history this 8 mile loop has been named a Tennessee Heritage Arts and Crafts trail.  Many artists demonstrate their crafts such as painting, weaving, sewing, silversmithing and staining glass.  There is also a tea room, soda fountain and candy shops to enjoy.

Ripley’s Aquarium

If rest and relaxation are what you’re looking for, there’s no better way to start the day than with some good ‘ol southern cooking, and Mama’s Farmhouse is just the place. Parrot Mountain and Gardens

A sanctuary for abused or surrendered exotic birds, Parrot Mountain is a beautiful destination filled with flowers, winding pathways, and a soothing waterfall. On the tour, you’ll see hundreds of birds including Toucans, Parrots, Magpies, Horn bills and more.  See newly hatched birds being hand fed, or hold a cup of nectar and watch older Lorikeets come right to you! In the garden you can feed the parrots and have a souvenir picture taken holding one.

Lunch - Hungry Bear BBQ

Slightly off the beaten path you’ll find the Hungry Bear. Both the food and the prices are so good, you’ll be amazed. Locally owned and operated the Hungry Bear BBQ smokes all their own meat and has a variety of sauces to choose from. Don’t forget to add your favorite side and some sweet tea to complete your tasty lunch!

Newfound Gap Road Scenic Drive

For many vacationers, this drive is the highlight of their trip. As you wind through the beautiful mountains there are plenty of places to pull off and enjoy the gorgeous view. When you reach the Gap, you can literally stand in TN and NC at the same time.  Of course, you want to snap some photos, catch up on the history, or maybe start on one of the walking trails. The famous Appalachian Trail also runs through the Gap. For your convenience there are restrooms available as well.

Chimney Tops Picnic Area

Right off the main road tucked away under tall shade trees is Chimney Tops Picnic Area. There are tables, grills and restrooms available but get there a little early as the spots by the water fill up first. You could spend an hour or an entire afternoon here listening to the water rush by, playing on the rocks, taking photos, or walking the .75 mile loop.

Dinner - The Peddler Steakhouse

As a renowned highlight of the Great Smoky Mountains area, The Peddler Steakhouse lives up to all expectations. Naturally aged, succulent steaks are cut tableside to your specification and grilled over real Tennessee hickory charcoal. The menu also offers fresh Mountain Trout, Marinated Chicken and other delicious entrees that include a generous, fresh salad bar.

Located about 5 min from the entrance to Cade’s Cove, Miss Lily’s is one you won’t want to miss. Homemade breads and desserts will be the perfect addition to your meal often made with fresh produce straight from their garden. Rainbow Falls - 5.4 mile hike

Although it is technically categorized as “moderate” among waterfall hikes, Rainbow Falls is a bit of a workout to climb. There are steep inclines, narrow bridges and some rocky ground to overcome but, the payoff is worth it. There are many smaller waterfalls on the way and when you get to the top, the falls are gorgeous.  Be sure to bring water and a snack as it may take 3-5 hours to complete the hike.

The Lodge at Buckberry Creek

After your hike it’ll be time to hit the showers and get ready for a romantic dinner at The Lodge at Buckberry Creek. There you will experience the beautiful view of Mt. LeConte while enjoying the freshest seasonal ingredients. It will be a treat you and your sweetheart will always remember.
