Frontcountry Camping in the Smokies

Instead of staying in a hotel or cabin, you could try roughing it at a Smoky Mountain area campground.  Various campgrounds – including RV campgrounds – can be found inside and outside the national park.

Camping Inside the Park

There are ten frontcountry campgrounds in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  They are Abrams Creek, Balsam Mountain, Big Creek, Cades Cove, Cataloochee, Cosby, Deep Creek, Elkmont, Look Rock, and Smokemont.

To find out where these campgrounds are located, look at the park map. To make reservations, visit www.recreation.gov or call (877) 444-6777.  Remember, each campground has its own reservation guidelines.

For those a little bit more adventurous – go backcountry camping!
