Backcountry Shelters in the Smokies

Below are all the backcountry Shelters located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

They are all found along the Appalachian Trail, except for Kephart, Laurel Gap, Mount Collins, Mount LeConte, Pecks Corner, and Spence Field.

Remember to call the Backcountry Office at (865) 436-1231 and reserve a spot in the shelter at least a month in advance.

Reservations are required for overnight stays in the shelters.  You can download the official Smoky Mountains National Park Trail Map to find these shelters.
